You may recognize the name Walden Pond from high school English class. This beautiful Concord body of water was made famous by author Henry David Thoreau, who once resided here in a simple cabin in the woods. Thoreau wrote many classic essays about this pristine location. What you might not know, however, is that Walden Pond is a great inland spot to visit for a summer swim. 

Walden Pond is the deepest natural freshwater body in the state. This kettle hole pond is 102 feet deep and was formed from a melted glacier.

The beach is on the smaller side, but the water is clear and clean.
