The Fisher Museum displays detailed dioramas that depict ecological scenes from before the colonists arrived through modern times. Harvard Forest in Petersham is part of Harvard University and acts as an outdoor laboratory and classroom throughout its 4,000 acres. Here you will also find the one-of-a-kind Fisher Museum.
The Fisher Museum was established in 1941 as a free museum that is open to the public. It is here where visitors can learn about ecology, history of the local landscapes, and land conservation in a unique way.
Visitors are invited to walk through the main exhibit hall filled with 23 dioramas. You will get to see how the landscapes of central New England have changed over the course of 230 years.
