I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Most of us have fond childhood memories of attending a fair. Thoughts of cotton candy, fried food, carnival rides and games, live music, and fun with friends and family pop into our heads at the mere mention of a state or county fair. On September 9-12, 2021 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, the 172nd Annual Fairfield County Fair will be held. So save the date – it’s a good time you won’t want to miss!
Franklin County Fair will be held at the 27-acre Franklin County Fairgrounds September 9-12, 2021, the weekend after Labor Day. There will be food, there will be rides, and, best of all, there will be fun!
The Fair kicks off with a parade on Thursday starting at 5 p.m. The parade route starts at Greenfield Middle School before it heads down Federal Street, then takes a right on Main Street before taking another right onto River Street. The route then goes down Laurel Street towards the fairgrounds where it ends. There are plenty of spots along the route to watch the parade go by!
Once you enter the fairgrounds, you'll have acres and acres of things to see and do. From rides to carnival games, motocross, musical acts, animal races, crafts, foods, and more, there are endless opportunities to have some fun!
Stop by the iconic 1899 Roundhouse where creative crafters can show off their wares to fair attendees. This is the spot to pick up a one-of-a-kind handmade gift for someone.
Kids and adults alike will be delighted to see all the farm animals at the Fair. Cows, sheep, chickens, rabbits, horses, and oxen will all be on display.
These are just a few of the things you can see and do during the Fair weekend. For a full schedule, head to the Franklin County Fair website.
The doors to this year’s 172nd Annual Franklin County Fair will be open at 3 p.m. on Thursday, 1 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Check out why this county fair has been going strong since 1848 and is considered one of the best fairs in New England!
