7. Bear Swamp, Ashfield
Head to Bear Swamp (it’s actually not too swamp nor too beary) to admire the gorgeous leaves that ring Beaver Pond. The tall maple and birch trees are some of the loveliest in the area and incredibly photogenic.
8. Rock House Reservation, West Brookfield
This reservation features a quiet little pond with a necklace of fiery foliage. You can perch on a stony outcropping over the water and take in the autumnal tranquility.
9. Monument Mountain
This mountain is beautiful in all seasons, but the autumnal pigments of the white pine and oak forests that blanket the peak are truly breathtaking. If you don’t mind a bit of a hike, take the afternoon and trek to the top for a beautiful view of Southern Berkshire County.
10. Bartholomew’s Cobble, Sheffield
This park actually features more types of forest than anywhere else in Berkshire County. This translates to a smorgasbord of foliage varieties and dazzling colors. Hiking to the top of the hill affords a spectacular view of the lower woodlands.
