I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
There’s something quite special about dining at a family-owned restaurant, especially one that’s been in the same family for over 85 years. With the friendly atmosphere of a classic diner, reasonable prices, and good old-fashioned home cooking, it’s no wonder why Don’s Diner has been a local favorite in Plainville, Massachusetts for decades.
Once known as "Alicia's," a nine-stool diner at the time, Donald R. Perreault took it over in 1936. He then changed the name to "Don's Diner" and kept it open 24 hours a day.
In 1940, Don started delivering food to area businesses and set up a catering service which became a popular part of Don's Diner. By 1958, his son (also named Don) was ready to join the family business.
In the 1980s, a third generation of the Perreault family started working at the diner, and in time, a fourth generation will one day take over. It's incredible to eat at a local place that has been owned by the same family for several generations.
Don's Diner serves breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Saturday and breakfast only on Sundays. In addition to breakfast and lunch on Fridays, they also serve dinner.
Breakfast is always a good option here at Don's Diner! Whether it's an egg dish, homemade Belgian waffle, breakfast sandwich, French toast, or buttermilk pancakes, expect large portions that will satisfy your belly.
Lunch brings salads and classic diner fare like grilled cheese, clubs, and burgers. On Fridays and Saturdays only, you can order fish and chips, clam chowder, and clam cakes. And the Friday night menu offers plenty of fish dishes, burgers, and BLTs.
The menu has plenty to choose from, even for the pickiest eaters. But one thing's for certain - if you haven't yet been to Don's Diner, you're missing out!
If you haven’t yet dined at the family-owned Don’s Diner, you should make plans to go. For those of you who have had a meal here, please tell us what you enjoyed most about it. To learn more about Don’s Diner, visit the website and give the Facebook page a follow.
