I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Dining isn’t just about the food. Many times, the experience you have at a restaurant can certainly add to an establishment’s appeal. Creating memories with both the food and the ambiance is what can truly set one restaurant apart from the rest. And that is certainly the case at Bootleg Special which offers quite a unique dining experience in Massachusetts.
With its style of a French Quarter speakeasy, the southern-inspired Bootleg Special offers a singular dining experience in Boston.
From the decor to the ambiance to the food, there's no other place quite like it in the city. And with an air of intrigue and romance, this a great spot for a date night.
The menu offerings include small plates like crispy wings, crispy octopus, and truffle steak tataki. And then there are the Social Plates like the lobster-crab mac and cheese, squid ink fried rice, and signature garlic noodles that are meant for sharing.
You can also order from the "Build-A-Boil" section. Create your own seafood boil with your choice of King crab legs, Dungeness crab legs, lobster, jumbo Gulf shrimp, clams, crawfish, mussels, and vegetables.
There are two "Signature Boils" as well. One is the "Bootleg Special" with lobster, crawfish, shrimp, mussels, clams, corn on the cob, potatoes, and Andouille sausage.
The second is Mama Sue's "Big Bowl of Crabs" which includes King, Snow, and Dungeness crab legs along with Jonah crab claws, noodles, and Andouille sausage.
If you enjoy brunch, come here on the weekends and you can try the ultra fluffy soufflé pancakes.
No matter if you order the original, bananas foster, chocolate hazelnut, or strawberries creme fraiche, you've never had pancakes quite like these before.
Whether you're here for brunch or dinner, you should certainly check out the drink menu. Each handcrafted cocktail is an experience in itself.
