I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
There are so many stunning natural attractions around the Bay State to visit. But don’t let looks deceive you for some places require visitors to exercise extreme caution. There is one dangerous nature spot in Massachusetts that happens to be a wildly popular place. However, this particular locale harbors a dark and terrifying secret.
On the border of Massachusetts and New York, you will find Bash Bish Falls State Park. And in this 424-acre state park, you'll find the highest waterfall in the state.
Surrounding the falls and the pool below are rocks that can be quite treacherous especially when wet. People have slipped, fallen, and hurt themselves (or worse) here.
In fact, it's quite easy to slip and fall if you're not too careful. Exercising extreme caution here is paramount. Over the past century, there have been at least 25 deaths at Bash Bish Falls.
Several tragic and accidental drownings in the pool below the falls have occurred. Because of this, swimming is prohibited. While Bash Bish Falls is absolutely gorgeous, please be careful when you visit, wear proper footwear, and do not attempt to swim.
Have you ever visited the gorgeous Bash Bish Falls? When you visit, please remember that if you don’t exercise caution here, it can be quite a dangerous nature spot in Massachusetts. Be careful and respect this natural wonder. To learn more about this gorgeous waterfall as well as Bash Bish Falls State Park, visit the Mass.gov website.
