Concord, Massachusetts is a spectacular town to visit any time of year. I like to go to the Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in the spring and swim at the beautiful Walden Pond in the summertime. However, Christmastime is when the town of Concord really shines (literally). It truly is a wonderful place to experience some quintessential New England holiday magic!
Concord’s annual holiday parade kicks off the Christmas season as Santa and other favorite characters delight spectators and bring holiday cheer to the downtown area. Musicians, dancers, and theatrical performances are also part of the festivities.
The parade is followed by the town’s annual tree lighting. While the 2023 tree lighting has already taken place, there's still so much to see in this festive town!
Concord is a wonderful place to shop for holiday gifts. Enjoy your favorite holiday tunes as you wander through the decked-out shops filled with gorgeous displays. During the annual West Concord holiday stroll, many of the stores offer shoppers special holiday treats such as coffee and cookies.
A toy store, cheese shop, and bookstore are a few of the unique shops that you can find in town.

The "Family Trees" at the Concord Museum display is a special local town tradition that is now celebrating its 27th year. Visit the museum and see dozens of trees and wreaths uniquely decorated in children’s literature themes.
The Concord Museum also puts on a stunning holiday house tour. Guests have a chance to visit several local homes that have been festively decorated by professionals.
The holiday house tour takes place in early December, so keep this one in mind for next year!
And if you are interested in house tours, you won’t want to miss "Christmas At The Manse." This historic house was once home to Ralph Waldo Emerson as well as author Nathaniel Hawthorne.
This special holiday tour is offered several times throughout the day on December 23, 2023, and will tell you all about the history of the home and how those who lived here celebrated the season.
And for even more holiday fun, be sure to check out all of the events taking place at the Umbrella Stage Company. Along with a winter market and a family craft-making event, there is a fabulous Holiday Pops concert featuring the Firebird Pops Orchestra.
The performance center also puts on many other fabulous events throughout the year.
And if you are looking to spend a few days in Concord, you are in for a wonderful stay. The historic Concord’s Colonial Inn is a charming place to rest your head. The inn will be all decked out for the holidays, which is sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
