I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Summer is just around the corner, which means fun in the sun and swimming! What if we told you to skip the beach and head to a waterfall swimming hole in Massachusetts instead? That may be an unconventional thought for those of us who live in a state that’s home to some of the best beaches in the country. However, you’ll undoubtedly want to take a refreshing dip in the pool at the bottom of this tiered waterfall.
Umpachene Falls Park in New Marlborough may be small, but it's packed with plenty of scenery including a waterfall. At just five acres, you can hike to and take a dip in a waterfall swimming hole.
To visit, you must be a resident of New Marlborough or be a guest of someone who is. However, you may be able to talk your way in if the groundskeeper is there and you promise to respect the park.
Once you get to Umpachene Falls, you'll probably want to take a dip in its pool right away. But take some time to marvel at its beauty as it cascades over the rocks.
