How many covered bridges does Massachusetts have?

In a 2003 survey of the covered bridges in Massachusetts, it was determined there were 12 designated covered bridges in Massachusetts remaining. Of those 12, seven of them are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Massachusetts used to be home to over 100 covered bridges, however, most of them have not survived to this day.
