9 Reasons No One In Their Right Mind Visits Boston In The Winter

Bostonians claim to be unfazed by winter. We talk about how much we love having all four seasons. We brag about jogging down snowy roads in shorts. We downplay the impact of Nor’easters. Eh, it’s just another storm. Confession time: it’s all a lie. We may be smiling on the outside but, by the time spring finally crawls around, we’re dying inside. Really. After all…
1. The sky is always overcast in winter.
Not a hint of blue in sight. Sunshine is just a faint memory.
2. ...And forget about sunsets.
They'd look so much worse reflected in ice.
3. The weather's so bad that nobody can drive.
If only someone would invent a way to push the snow out of the roads.
4. After a blizzard, we all huddle indoors until the snow melts.
How could we possibly take advantage of such horrendous conditions?
5. In fact we barely breathe fresh air between November and May.
There's absolutely nothing interesting to do outside.
6. And even if you venture beyond the city, it's not much better.
7. Boston is ugly in winter.
Literally the only thing you'll see is brown slush. Miles and miles of the stuff.
8. Sure, the beaches are still there.

But it's not like they're worth visiting in winter. Everyone knows that stretches of sand are only pretty in summer.
9. Since all of our best attractions are outside, Boston's a total write-off in cold weather.
Indoor attractions? Well, I guess there's the mall.
There you go: solid proof that The Hub can’t be a desirable year-round destination.
