Are you looking to learn to ski in 2024? Or maybe (as in my case), it has been a while and you want to get back into the sport. If so, Ski Butternut in Great Barrington, Massachusetts is the perfect place to start your skiing adventures.
Ski Butternut offers lessons for all skills, ages, and abilities. Both group and private lessons are available for both children and adults.
20 percent of the resort is made up of beginner-level terrain and there are four carpet lifts.
The Adult Beginner Package is perfect for adults who are new to the sport. Participants have to be at least 14 to enroll, so you don’t need to worry about a five or six-year-old showing you up!
The package includes equipment rentals, a beginner lift ticker, and an introductory-to-beginner lesson.

Lessons focus on skill development, confidence, and fundamental ski concepts. The beginner lessons are two hours long and are offered on weekday mornings and weekend and holiday afternoons.
If you have other family members who would like to ski, Ski Butternut has you covered! Kids as young as four years old can enroll in group lessons and there is a Senior Clinic for those 70 years and older.
The resort also offers adaptive ski lessons for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities.
And for even more snowy fun, why not spend a few hours tubing? Ski Butternut also has a fantastic tubing center. My family and I tried this out a few years ago and had a blast racing down the slopes together!
Have you taken ski or snowboard lessons at Ski Butternut? How was your experience? More information on the resort can be found on the Ski Butternut website and the Ski Butternut Facebook page. Mount Wachusett is another local resort that features a fantastic ski school. Be sure to keep all nice and toasty while you are on the slopes with this quality cold-weather gear from REI.
