I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
While Salem seems to get all the glory when it comes to all things Halloween, other towns get overlooked during the season. The spooky season will be here before you know it and one of the best Halloween towns in Massachusetts is probably one you’ve never thought of. During this time of year, the idyllic seaside town of Chatham turns into a wonderland of spooky fun that the whole family can enjoy!
According to Trips to Discover, both Salem and Chatham, Massachusetts were named two of the 18 "Best U.S. Small Towns to Visit for Halloween." While Salem gets quite crowded with tourists during the Halloween season, try something different and visit Chatham instead.
While the charming Cape Cod town of Chatham doesn't quite get the crowds that Salem does during the weeks leading up to Halloween, it's no less fun or festive.
One of the most anticipated events in Chatham this time of year is Pumpkin People in the Park. Held at both Kate Gould Park as well as the Bandstand on Main Street, this year's event will be held October 14-31, 2022.
Local businesses, organizations, and area residents are allowed to participate in Pumpkin People in the Park for a fee. Just to see the creativity on display is well worth the drive to get here this time of year!
In addition to the whimsical and spooky pumpkin displays, Oktoberfest will be held at Kate Gould Park on October 22, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
