I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
It’s always wonderful to get away — and even better if you find somewhere completely unique to stay. Located in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the Belfry Inn & Bistro features three historic buildings: The Abbey, The 1827 Village Inn, and The Painted Lady. While you can’t go wrong with spending the night in any of these buildings, all of which offer historic charm and exquisite amenities in Massachusetts, there is something extraordinary about The Painted Lady…
The Abbey, a former church built in 1901, features six guest rooms and the Belfry's award-winning Bistro, while The 1827 Village is a converted boarding house with four rooms.
And then there's The Painted Lady, a gorgeous Victorian home that once served as a church rectory. Built in 1882, the whimsical architecture features gables, a colorful exterior, and plenty of Victorian details that will transport you back in time.
If you want to bring your four-legged friend, the pet-friendly John Room (pictured here) or Lee Room are the options for you. The John Room features a queen bed, gas fireplace, and private bath with jacuzzi while the Lee Room has a king bed and a large bathroom with jacuzzi and a shower.
As you can see from the rooms, the Painted Lady is quite the luxurious and colorful place to spend the night!
While staying at the Belfry Inn's Painted Lady, you may as well dine out at the Bistro which is housed inside the former church on the property. Between the elegant dining room and impeccable menu, you'll have an unforgettable dining experience here.
Another option for a meal is the Next Door Burger Bar. Located on the first floor of the Painted Lady, a stay here means you don't have to go too far for a great meal!
Have you stayed overnight or dined at the Belfry Inn & Bistro? If so, what was the experience like? Let us know in the comments! For more information, visit the Belfry Inn & Bistro website and Facebook page.
