Massachusetts is filled with wonderful trails and hikes, but not all of them lead you through the site of a real Revolutionary War battle. Battle Road Trail in Lexington is one of the most unique walks in Massachusetts. It combines gorgeous scenery with a fun dose of history. Check out all the details below.
Battle Road Trail is unlike any other hike in the state. It will take you straight through the site of the Revolutionary War’s most famous conflicts: the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
Just in case your history facts are a little dusty, the Battles of Lexington and Concord happened on April 19, 1775 and marked the beginning of the American war for independence from Great Britain.
Along the way, you’ll pass memorial plaques and explanatory markers that will clue you into the significance of certain spots and sections of the trail.
Portions of the trail wind through the forest, while others will take you across open fields and meadows. Keep an eye out for wildlife and wildflowers in the spring!
