- Trap Falls, Ashby, MA: The Willard Brook State Forest in Ashby is a wonderful place to explore year-round. However, in the wintertime, there is a quiet sense of peace that is truly magical. Hiking to Trap Falls won't take you long because it is only about a tenth of a mile, but you'll walk over a cute little covered bridge to reach the falls which are actually three separate cascades.
- Forbush Mill Dam, Bolton, MA: A short way south of Bolton along Forbush Mill Road you'll find the location of the former Morse Sawmill. The dam that powered the mill remains and it makes for a beautiful sight in the wintertime when ice forms around the falling cascade.
- Danforth Falls, Hudson, MA: The Danforth Falls Conservation Area in Hudson is a lovely hidden gem that is worth exploring any time of year. In the winter, take the Danforth Falls Loop Trail (about 1.2 miles in total) to reach a partially frozen waterfall crystalizing over large boulders. It may not be a dramatic plummeting waterfall dropping over a massive cliff, but it is still a beautiful sight to see.
