I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
It’s not every day you can step into a book store in a building with a historic past. But at Heritage Books in Southampton, that’s exactly what you’ll find. This one-of-a-kind book shop in Massachusetts is the perfect place for both history buffs and bookworms to spend some time. So, take a step back into the past with a visit to Heritage Books.
Once upon a time, in 1904 to be exact, there was a town library in the building that Heritage Books in Southampton now occupies. This gorgeous structure was once the Edwards Library.
Head indoors through the large doors and you'll see many of the library's original architectural features. And, although it is now home to Heritage Books, it certainly has maintained the feel of a library.
Also inside are some fascinating antique pieces like this Ferris wheel acquired by bookstore owner Bruce Coombs in the late-1990s. Customers enjoy seeing this work of art!
Heritage Books is the shop to come for if you are in the market for used, rare, collectible, and antique books. If you can't make the drive here, the bookstore has over 10,000 titles available for purchase online.
Have you been to this book shop in Massachusetts yet? If so, did it feel like you took a trip back in time given the history of the building it occupies? Let us know in the comments. To learn more, visit Heritage Books’ website and Facebook page.
