The Southwick Rail Trail is only six miles long but it’s a beautiful journey along the way.

The former railroad itself had taken over the route of a former canal where merchants could deliver goods from Northampton, Massachusetts to New Haven, Connecticut beginning in 1826.
Extending from the Connecticut state line through Southwick and ending in Westfield, the Southwick Rail Trail is a gorgeous pathway to enjoy for a few hours.
Enjoy the scenery going by as you hike (or even bike or rollerblade) along the Southwick Rail Trail. You'll encounter wetlands, farmland, golf courses, and waterways along the way.
