Massachusetts is a state full of remarkable American history. One of the best ways to experience the past of Massachusetts is by taking a ride on the Shelburne Falls Trolley. This 19th-century trolley will take riders on trip into the past. Discover the beauty and the history of rural, northwestern Massachusetts when you climb aboard this antique trolley.
Visit Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum this summer to experience the history and rugged hills of northwestern Massachusetts. The museum opened in 1999 and has been providing tourists with summer trolley rides ever since.
Taking a ride on the trolley will allow riders to expereince what transportation in the area was like at the beginning of the 20th-century. The trolley originally operated between 1908 and 1928 and provided residents with social and commercial transportation.
Today, the trolley will take visitors on a 15 minute ride across the historic Bridge of Flowers and along the Shelburne Falls and Colrain Street Railway. Admission for adults is $4 and $2 for children aged 6 to 12.
Included in your admission is access to the old pump car. This train car allows riders to travel the tracks by pumping a lever up and down for power and momentum. It's a fun way to experience an old-fashioned mode of transportation.
Inside the museum, kids and adults can get hands-on with model and toy trains. There is also an abundance of historical information available. Be sure to take home a trinket from the gift shop. The shop's proceeds help support operations at the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum.
