Believe it or not, camping isn’t only for summertime. The following year-round campground in Maryland is not only scenic, but it also has little to no light pollution, making for marvelous nighttime views. Assateague is a barrier island along Maryland's eastern shore.
Although this spot is usually known for summertime lounging along the ocean...
...and its majestic, wild horses. These beauties should always be enjoyed at a distance, so make sure to appreciate from afar and let them roam!
It's also a great spot for pitching a tent and spending the night among the sand and the stars.
The national park side (Assateague Island National Seashore) offers camping year-round! Reservations are required March 15th through November 15th. Between those dates, it's a first-come, first-served policy. Sites during this time are $30 per night.
