A few spots in Maryland have already gotten flurries and we can’t help but think about the upcoming winter season. There are some things you only learn after living in Maryland for a while, which we’re sharing below. Here are a few tidbits about making it through Maryland winters.
1. Never go to the grocery store the day before a snowstorm.
If the weather man is telling you to stock up on essentials, go a few days before the storm to avoid the rush. The early bird catches the bread, milk, and eggs.
2. It's not nice to take someone else's shoveled out parking spot.
It's just plain rude.
3. Sometimes we're expecting a blizzard and get a mere dusting...
4. And other times, we're expecting an inch and get a foot.
Which do you prefer?
5. Some Marylanders are never ready to let summer go...
They own a jacket. They just choose not to wear it.
6. But you can never have too many layers.
During winter, it takes me three hours to undress.
7. Sometimes, even an ice scraper can't get the job done.
And good luck getting your doors open, too.
8. Don't expect others to drive well in a snowstorm.
I'm tensing up just thinking about it...
9. So if you must be on the roads, please use caution and be aware of your surroundings.
Slow and steady.
10. Nearly every winter, at least one Marylander has a heart attack from shoveling...
There's no shame in taking a break if you need one.
11. So take your time. Enjoy the snow day.
Snow is nature's freezer. Use accordingly.
