We’ve featured a variety of Maryland towns worth visiting, from the western mountains to the eastern shore. Today, we’re highlighting a town that you may have heard of, but not many people know just how outdoorsy this area is. When you’re seeking a weekend of adventure, head here, and enjoy natural attractions all around.
Potomac, Maryland is located along the -- you guessed it -- Potomac River. This area is largely known as one of the richest towns in the state, and reality television fans will recognize it from the show The Real Housewives of Potomac.
This area has much more to offer than you may think. Because of its location, outdoorsy attractions await at every turn. We'll start with Great Falls, which is a Potomac River gem that can be viewed from both the Maryland and Virginia sides.
And while we're still on the topic of Great Falls, don't forget to visit the nearby Billy Goat Trail. This rocky and moderate hike offers extraordinary water views. Be sure to wear boots with good tread and bring plenty of snacks and water.
So, will you be putting Potomac, Maryland on your to-do list? With cooler weather and autumn leaves on the way, now may be the perfect time to plan a trip.
