Washington, DC might not technically be a part of Maryland. Well, at least not since 1790, when Maryland and Virginia donated the land on which the nation’s new capitol was to be established. However, Marylanders have been known to head into DC frequently when in search of a day of adventure. The city may be distinct from Maryland, but it’s so close that the museums, parks, and restaurants are regular destinations. And trust me when I say that this restaurant-slash-ice-cream-spot is absolutely worth the Metro ride into town. Fat Fish Rolls & Twists on The Wharf is a phenomenal place to head when you’re in need of an interesting ice cream experience and is a perfect stop for a light lunch to boot. It’s a great way for any Marylander to cap off a DC day trip!
