If you’re seeking a unique summer day trip with the family, check out Flag Ponds Nature Park in southern Maryland.

Flag Ponds Nature Park is located in Calvert County, nestled next to the Chesapeake Bay.

This is a gorgeous place for exploring year-round, with scenic sandy views and more.

Most people visit during summer to soak in the sun and splash around in the water.

Or wade in the surrounding natural pools, which are abundant with fossils.

Keep your eyes peeled! This spot is full of fossils from the Miocene era, including shark teeth.

If you'd like to visit this summer, be sure to arrive early. Once the park reaches a certain capacity, gates are closed until current beach-goers leave.

We can't complain though. This keeps the park less crowded and therefore, more serene.
