We’re smitten with many of Maryland’s small towns, from villages in the western mountains to beachy spots along the eastern shore. While many of them deserve a feature article, today we’re focusing on one particular spot that’s perfect for exploring during warmer months. Check out this tiny town with scenic water views, unique attractions, impressive seafood restaurants, and more.
Travel south to find Solomons, Maryland.
This hidden gem is surrounded by water, making for incredible views year-round.
For such a small town, there are an abundance of things to do in the area -- you just have to know where to look. Head to Calvert Marine Museum where you can learn all about the bay, from the ecosystem to its history and wildlife.
Speaking of wildlife, this place is far more than just a museum. You can see a variety of live animals up close. From fish to stingrays...
...and even playful otters! I could watch these fun little creatures for hours.
Also at the museum is the Drum Point Light, where you can walk to the top and enjoy the scenery down below. This is fun for all ages.
Head to the main part of Solomons to experience the boardwalk. Take in the views of the Patuxent River, peruse the local shops...
...and don't miss out on the many seafood restaurants! There are several options -- better try them all.
Or grab dessert at Lotus Kitchen, which has some of the best key lime pie in Maryland. Seriously.
If you prefer more outdoorsy adventures, head to the local beach, which has a great view of the Thomas Johnson Bridge. This spot is perfect for strolling, playing, and photo ops.
