Summer approaches and if you’re looking to make it the best one yet, check out our summer bucket list for 2017. Can you complete all 11 spots? We’re sure you’ll have fun trying!
1. Ocean City
No surprise that Ocean City tops the list of best places to visit during summer in Maryland. Whether you stay for a day or an entire week, you're sure to have a good time.
2. Adventure Sports Center International
This man-made whitewater course in McHenry is a unique spot where you can raft, kayak, and more down churning rapids. Are you up to the challenge?
3. Assateague Island
Maryland's wild horse island is a must-visit at least once each summer. If you're not a beach person, you can also hit the nearby trails on the island.
4. The National Hard Crab Derby
This crabby festival will be held Labor Day weekend and includes a crab picking competition, parade, pageant, and crab races! It just may be the most Maryland-esque festival in the state.
5. C & O Canal
While we recommend visiting the canal year-round, summer offers gorgeous weather and some trails are shaded depending on where you go. Bring your bike or explore by foot.
6. Frontier Town
This campground is located in Berlin and is fun for the whole family. Not only are there camping spots, but also a pool, water slides, wild west shows, ice cream, and arcade, and more!
7. Crystal Grottoes Caverns
If you're looking to cool off in a most unique way, then head to Crystal Grottoes Caverns, which remains at a crisp 54 degrees year-round. This natural cave is worth seeing in person.
8. Cunningham Falls
Cunningham Falls is Maryland's tallest cascading waterfalls and is perfect for a summer visit. Bring a picnic and sit among the rocks as you watch the water flow.
9. Solomons Island
Craving water views? Then head to Solomons Island. This spot is particularly gorgeous at sunrise and sunset.
10. Maryland's Ice Cream Trail
11. National Harbor
Summertime is great at the National Harbor because you can have a seat on the lawn and enjoy an outdoor movie on the big screen. The views of the Capital Wheel don't hurt either.
