Winter is long, which means plenty of downtime to plan for warm weather events. We can’t wait for the following seafood festivals this year, which have already announced their 2019 dates. Chow down on steamed crabs, toss back fresh oysters, and have a blast along the water at these very Maryland events…
1. The National Hard Crab Derby - September 1-2
Head to this wacky festival in Crisfield to witness crab picking contests and blue crab races. Children will love the carnival rides and everyone will enjoy the fireworks on Sunday! This place is truly a unique spectacle.

2. Maryland Seafood Festival - September 7-8
Location, location, location! This delicious festival takes place at Sandy Point State Park, making for great views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge all day long. Check out the cooking demonstrations, crab cake eating contest, and more.

3. Baltimore Seafood Festival - September 14
Head to Baltimore's Canton Waterfront Park for a day filled with steamed crabs, wine and beer, and all sorts of vendors. There will also be various food trucks onsite with tons of menu items to choose from. Come hungry!

4. US Oyster Festival - October 19-20
This annual event is held at St. Mary's County Fairgrounds. It hosts the US National Oyster Shucking Contest, which is fun to witness. Oyster cook-offs, beer tasting, and dozens of vendors will also be onsite. Bottoms up!

5. OysterFest - October 26
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels hosts this tasty event. Fill your day with water views and chow down on oysters while celebrating local watermen. This nautical event is also great for families, with a scavenger hunt, face painting, and more.
