Hello, Marylanders! How many autumn adventures have you checked off your to-do list so far? Apple picking is one of the most classic fall activities and there’s no better place to do it than the following spot. Head to Catoctin Mountain Orchard this fall for mountainous scenery and apples galore.
Sure, there are several pick-your-own-fruit farms in Maryland , but none are quite like Catoctin Mountain Orchard in Thurmont.
This hidden gem is surrounded by mountains, making for a scenic (and delicious) day trip to remember.
During spring and summer months, this splendid spot is known for their wildflowers. You can even pick-your-own, making for a one-of-a-kind bouquet.
They offer all sorts of fruit-picking too but during autumn, it's all about apples.
There are so many varieties, you'll want to try them all.
Honeycrisp, Gala, Blondee, Crimson Crisp, Cortland, Jonathan, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Empire apples are just waiting for you. Imagine all of the seasonal desserts you could make!
You can pick-your-own apples every Saturday and Sunday through the rest of October, from 10am to 4pm. Keep in mind that it's cash only, though there is an ATM on-site.
There is a $2 entrance fee to the orchard per person, which includes a festive wagon ride. Sounds like the perfect fall outing to me!
