When one thinks of zoos in Maryland, usually it’s the Baltimore Zoo that comes to mind. Not many people know that there are actually a few other zoos in the state that are worth checking out. Today we’re featuring a smaller, family-friendly place in an intimate setting. This is the one unique animal park in Maryland everyone should visit at least once.
Located in Rising Sun, Plumpton Park Zoo is an underrated gem full of exotic creatures.
Because of its smaller size, zookeepers are able to pay close attention to the well-being and happiness of the animals. Repeat visitors get to know these lovable critters, as if they're part of the family.
The animals you'll find here are charming. This includes Jimmie the giraffe...
And one of the newest additions, Ruby the white wallaby. Look at that face!
These two peas in a pod are full of personality.
And these striped friends just want to cuddle.
Prepare your hands for heavy petting. These cheeky goats await.
This fun animal park also hosts unique events throughout the year. Come be a part of the action as pirates take over for swashbuckling adventures.
Visit during autumn to paint pumpkins...
Or watch the animals do some decorating (or eating) of their own.
No matter what season you visit, you're sure to love Plumpton Park Zoo and all it has to offer.
