Marylanders are filled with state pride. While other states may like to make fun of us, we have the facts to back up just why the Old Line State is amazing. Here are 10 reasons why Marylanders are entitled to be proud of their state.
1. We're America in miniature. Our state literally has every type of terrain - except desert.
2. Maryland's very own Francis Scott Key wrote the The Spangled Banner.
3. He also coined the phrase "In God We Trust" which is printed on our currency, and on the buildings of many government institutions.
4. We do seafood best. No competition.
5. People travel from other states to vacation at Ocean City, MD.
6. We're smart. According to the Bloomberg Company, Maryland ranks 3rd when it comes to most educated states in America.
7. We're within driving distance to major attractions including DC, New York, Philadelphia, and more. Not many states have that luxury.
8. Edgar Allen Poe was a Baltimore resident. If it wasn't for his work, we'd be without some of the greatest stories of all time.
9. Maryland was the first state to pass workers compensation laws. After us, other states soon followed. You're welcome, America.
10. Our very own town of Brookeville was the US Capital for a day. Pretty cool.
What are the reasons you’re proud of Maryland? The list could potentially never end. 🙂
