When asked to think of the beach, I’m willing to bet most Marylanders would conjure up an image of Ocean City. And of course, our Atlantic coastline is an incredible stretch of country to explore, particularly if you’re a fan of tequila. But one of Maryland’s most interesting geographical features, the Chesapeake Bay, just so happens to carve its way up through the state, creating a number of incredible inland beaches that many probably wouldn’t even consider when trying to plan their next beach day. But the beautiful Hammerman Beach at Gunpowder Falls State Park is beckoning, and this spot is bursting with atmosphere – so much so that you may even forget you’re technically inland as soon as you settle down to spread out the towel!
