Built in 1891, this structure used to be called the Patterson Park Observatory.

Over the years, it became dilapidated due to a lack of maintenance funds, and became heavily vandalized. It was officially closed in 1951.

It sat quietly abandoned in the middle of Patterson Park for decades. Then, thanks to restoration efforts, it was officially fixed-up once more and reopened in 2002.

Now referred to as the Pagoda, visitors can tour this magical place. One of the most stunning features is the grand spiral staircase.

You can catch views of the Pagoda year-round but if you want to go inside, make sure to plan ahead. The Pagoda is open to visitors every Sunday from noon to 6pm, April through October. For more information, visit the website here.
