Not many people know that there is a whimsical slice of paradise hiding in Maryland. This gorgeous spot full of plush greenery and magical topiaries seems to have popped straight out of a storybook. This place will draw you in with its unique charm and you may regret not knowing about it sooner. Take a look.
Located in Monkton, you'll find Ladew Topiary Gardens.
The property was purchased by Harvey S. Ladew in 1929, who moved to the area for his love of fox hunting, particularly in the Maryland countryside.
After transforming the farmhouse into his perfect sanctuary, he began focusing on the grounds.
He wanted the surrounding gardens to reflect his own unusual style and sense of humor.
With trial, error, and finally success, Mr. Ladew cultivated some of the most impressive topiary gardens in the country.
There's a plethora of different areas to take in the sights.
Unique bridges cross over babbling brooks.
Intricate sculptures boldly stand among a floral nirvana.
You can walk through enchanting archways that are perfectly entangled with blooming vines.
It's quite reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland.
Bring a camera because the photo opportunities here are endless.
There are also regular events held here, including concerts. Listening to sweet tunes while surrounded by paradise is a lovely way to spend an evening, indeed.
