9. Walkersville Southern Railroad
Walkersville Southern Railroad is lesser-known than Western Maryland Scenic Railroad but is no less fun. Hop on and enjoy a ride around historic Monocacy Valley. During warmer months, choose to sit in an open-air car to feel the cool breeze upon your skin.
10. Cumberland
This mountain town has church steeples galore, making for a unique skyline, indeed. Head into town and explore the many historic shops, eateries, and marvel at the castle-like courthouse.
11. Ellicott City
Located in Howard County, Ellicott City is a superb spot to soak in historic sights for the day. Check out the modern boutiques that are nestled within old buildings and don't miss out on the train museum, too.
