Historic sites aren’t hard to come by in Maryland. While some are more well known, other lesser known spots deserve a bit of attention too. The following underrated battlefield in Maryland is one of those magical places that you won’t believe you haven’t visited sooner.
Located in Frederick, you'll find the historic and picturesque Monocacy National Battlefield.
Often overshadowed by the infamous Antietam Battlefield, this site is worth exploring.
The site of the Civil War's Battle of Monocacy in 1864, this spot offers a variety of things to see. This includes war memorials, sweeping rural views, historic cannons and more.
There are several walking trails around the battlefield, providing scenic views along the way.

And this is Worthington Farmhouse, constructed circa 1851.
Here is the beautifully ornate Gambrill House which dates back to 1868. These are just a few of the grand structures you can see up close, giving you a glimpse of the past.
