2. Paint crab shell ornaments.
Have old crab shells lying around? Paint them and hang them on the Christmas tree come wintertime.
3. Celebrate Wear Orange Wednesdays .
Major League Baseball season has been postponed but you can still support the O's by wearing orange. The kids will probably enjoy rummaging through their closets to find something that fits the theme.
4. Or how about Purple Friday?
Sadly, it isn't even close to football season but you can still teach the kids all about Purple Friday.
5. Whip up some crab cakes.
What better time to do some cooking? Have the kids help mold the crab cakes so everybody feels like they've helped prepare this very Maryland meal.
6. Learn about regional words and slang.
Practice pronouncing local words that you'll only find in Maryland.
Here's a list to get you started!
7. And while you're at it, have fun with accents, too.
Believe it or not, some of Maryland's regions have different accents. Like wooder or warsh . How many others can you come up with?
8. Try this easy, old-fashioned Baltimore treat.
Lemon sticks aren't as popular as they once were, but they're a must-try at least once. Simply stick a peppermint stick in a lemon and you're set!
9. Learn about lacrosse.
Have old lacrosse sticks from your high school days? Whip em out and teach the kids about this local sport.
10. See what foods taste good with Old Bay.
We saved the best activity for last! Everybody knows that Old Bay tastes good on seafood, but see what other foods around the house pair well. Eggs, corn, and popcorn are a few, but feel free to get creative, too!
Can you think of other things to add to the list? Feel free to share in the comments!
