There are over 230 ships at this site, most of which were built during World War I. Many were deemed unusable, so they were set aflame and left abandoned in Mallows Bay.
And the most fascinating part is that this discovery was made by a class of fifth graders from the nearby J.C. Parks Elementary School. The class looked at old images on Google Earth to determine the movement.
No fear -- the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay isn't likely to completely disappear. We recommend a trip for all Marylanders at least once because the attached photos do not do it justice.
