Living in Maryland isn’t for everyone. Naysayers will complain about the taxes, traffic, and laws, but those things are just a part of life in the Old Line State. Maryland has many things to offer that far outweigh its negative qualities. Take a look at the following list, and you’ll see what I mean. Here are 12 undeniable reasons to live in Maryland:
1. We have some of the freshest seafood in the US.
Never again will I live in a state that's not on the coast. Plus, life without steamed blue crabs just doesn't seem that exciting.
2. The education system consistently proves to be superior.
You can feel good about attending school here, or raising children in Maryland. The state always ranks among the top 10 most educated in the country and we're pretty proud of that fact.
3. We're diverse.
Maryland is one big melting pot of different races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, and the list goes on. It enriches us as a state and connects us as a people.
4. There's always more to see.
Most people know about Maryland's main tourist attractions but dig a little deeper, and you'll find a state filled with hidden gems. Put on your exploring hat because there's always more to see.
5. We're in a GREAT location.
Can you imagine having to hop on a plane and fly to the nearest tourist attraction or beach? In Maryland, that's not necessary since we're within driving distance to an abundance of cities, beaches, and natural wonders.
6. Our charming small towns are delightful.
Speaking of area attractions, there's nothing quite like a road trip to a bay town or mountain town in Maryland. These quaint spots are postcard worthy and we recommend visiting each and every one.
7. We have the most pride. No contest.
While other states in the US have a certain amount of pride, no one does it quite like Maryland. If you don't own something with the Maryland flag pattern, are you really even a Marylander? 😉
8. We're not afraid to be ourselves.
There's something for everyone in Maryland. No matter your hobbies or interests, you're sure to find others who enjoy it just as much as you. Let that freak flag fly!
9. History surrounds us.
Sure, Maryland has areas with new construction and brand new restaurants, but it also has many preserved historic areas throughout the state. Whether you're into war history or old architecture, you can find it here.
10. You'll never be bored.
Earlier I mentioned that there is always more to see, but there's also always something to do. Festivals are abundant in the state as well as farmers markets, concerts, crafts fairs, and more. Keep an eye out for local events and you'll never be bored.
11. The western region is stunning during autumn.
Residents may mostly be populated around central Maryland, but you should never forget the outlying regions, including Western Maryland. You can literally climb mountains here year-round, but there's no time more beautiful than during autumn.
12. It's just a fantastic place to live.
The state has a little bit of everything and adventures are plenty. If that's not a great way to live, then I don't know what is.
