So many charming towns in Maryland, so little time. While the Old Line State boasts dozens of waterfront towns worth visiting, today we’re featuring one that’s little known but worth the trip. Full of history and scenic sights, be sure to put this spot on your must-visit list this spring.
When the weather gets warm, many Marylanders head to St. Michaels. But if you're looking for a quieter area that's filled with just as much charm, journey to the nearby town of Oxford.
This picturesque place is one of the oldest towns in Maryland, dating back to 1683. It's nestled on the river, offering sprawling water views.
Boaters head here to enjoy beautiful days on the water.
If you don't own a boat, you can still take a watery trip by riding the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry.
It is believed to be the oldest privately operated ferry in the U.S.
Or opt to take a stroll around town and explore the delightful businesses.
Head to The Treasure Chest gift shop that offers a variety of goods.
Or learn about the history of the town at the Oxford Museum.
Book lovers will especially enjoy the Oxford Library. It may be smaller in size, but it's filled with character.
Enjoy the outdoors by visiting the little beach known as The Strand.
Or bring your bike and experience one of the prettiest rides you've ever had.
Watching the sunset over the water is breathtaking in person.
If one day here isn't enough, treat yourself to a weekend getaway by staying at one of the area inns.
Then wake up the next day, and do it all over again.
