Maryland is filled with lakes and although they’re all entirely man-made, that doesn’t make them any less spectacular. One of our favorites is Lake Habeeb, located at Rocky Gap State Park in Western Maryland. Head here for a day among the beautiful water, which often appears to be clear, or even blissfully blue when reflected just right against the sky. You’re sure to have a serene time while being surrounded by stunning mountain views. Read on for more details below.
Rocky Gap State Park is located in Flintstone, Maryland.
It's right along Route 68, making it easy to find. You'll even spot it from the road!
Rocky Gap State Park is known for its onsite casino resort where you can eat, stay the night, and play a round of golf.
You could visit for the day or even make it a long weekend among this relaxing, yet fun attraction. There's plenty to do!
This area is also home to plenty of hiking trails, camp sites, and the stunning Lake Habeeb.
Be sure to bring your camera to capture the reflective sights!
During summer months, visitors can enjoy the beach area. Bring a towel, chairs, and picnic lunch. Then, take a dip in the gorgeous water.
If the water has remained undisturbed for a couple of days (meaning no intense rain events), it can often appear crystal clear. Even if swimmers mix around the bottom layer of the lake with their feet, the surface may still shimmer with blues or greens.
Summer isn't the only time to enjoy Lake Habeeb. Head here year-round for kayaking or paddle boarding, or simply come for a scenic hike. Autumn is especially exquisite.
This is a Maryland gem you'll want to see at least once, although you'll likely want to return again and again. This peaceful spot makes for a picture perfect getaway.
