Hello, fun seekers! If you have kids in your life, you’re probably looking for local playgrounds often. The following one in Maryland is one-of-a-kind and as soon as you see the giant slide here, you’ll understand why. Come see what this park has to offer and have fun sliding down what’s known as The Big Slide . All ages are sure to enjoy this unique structure — young and old — so bring the entire family!
The Big Slide is located at Municipal Park at Rocky Ridge.
This area in Frederick County is known for its nearby historic covered bridges, and The Big Slide somewhat resembles them.
The exterior of this 1950s slide is painted a barn-red and is topped with a metal roof...
...and inside, the slide is made of wood, with fun bumps along the way to make your ride even more exciting.
Climb up the planks on the right-hand side...
...and then slide down on a blanket or towel for maximum speed (and to avoid splinters).
At the bottom you'll find a sandy area so even if you overshoot, you'll be landing on a soft surface.
While at Municipal Park at Rocky Ridge, you can also enjoy the onsite playground...
...and check out the remarkable pavilion with church pews inside. The park is owned by Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ and sometimes services and events are held in this spot. Pretty cool!
