The Most Terrifying Ghost Story To Ever Come Out Of Maryland Is Truly Chilling

Dr. Mudd became infamous for mending the leg of John Wilkes Booth. The leg injury was a result of jumping from the balcony at Ford's Theatre after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Dr. Mudd claimed he had no idea who Mr. Booth was, or had any knowledge of his prior activities that caused the leg injury. His house happened to be along the assassin's escape route, and he was just doing what he thought any doctor would do.

However, after personal belongings of Booth's were found at the doctor's house, Dr. Mudd was tried and charged with treason. He spent four years in prison.

Today you can tour the home, but beware. Unexplained things are said to happen here, including phantom footsteps and full body apparitions. There are sometimes faint knocks on the front door, which some say could be the ghost of John Wilkes Booth knocking once more, or Dr. Samuel Mudd replaying the night that forever ruined his life.

Even creepier is what happens in the upstairs bedroom. The guestroom where John Wilkes Booth stayed the night has a single bed. Often after making the bed, there will later be an impression of a human body on top of the covers. This phenomenon is unexplained and seeing it in person is chilling.
