Maryland has dozens of cool towns that are worthy of exploring. Some have even been named the coolest in America by Budget Travel, such as Berlin and Sykesville . This made us think…what other towns in the Old Line State deserve a top spot among those contenders? There’s one place that came to mind above the rest…
Ellicott City's historic district has been in the news quite a lot over the last nine months.
An epic flood pummeled the Main Street area on July 30th, 2016, washing away several storefronts and killing two people. The tragedy became known across the nation, but for a different reason than one might think...
Videos of residents helping one another though dangerous flood waters ignited inspiration in those who watched. While most towns may have been shut down for months or years after, Ellicott City began to rebuild spectacularly fast.
Thanks to donations and eager volunteers, most of Main Street has been rebuilt, and the town's spirit is stronger than ever.
The sense of community alone makes this spot among the coolest places in the U.S.
And we can't forget the cool, one-of-a-kind shops that line Main Street.
Peruse the reopened boutiques for unique finds...
And then relax with a cup of coffee at the Bean Hollow.
This Saturday, April 22nd, is historic Ellicott City's annual Spring Fest. Celebrate with food, music, family-friendly activities, and more.
Or simply visit to boost the economy in this inspiring town with an unbeatable spirit.
For all these reasons and more, Ellicott City is not only cool, but as many other positive adjectives that one could imagine. There's just no place like it.
