Did you know that the Washington Monument is actually right here in Maryland?
No, we're not talking about the famous structure in DC (or the one in Baltimore). Head to Washington Monument State Park near Boonsboro to take in the beauty and history of this unique site.
The monument was constructed in 1827 in honor of George Washington.
It's a short hike to this spot and you can still climb to the top!
Stone walls and a steep staircase greets you at the entrance.
Make your way to the top and you'll be rewarded with an incredible overlook view that seems to stretch on forever.
The sights are gorgeous year-round and autumn brings copper colored hues. The best part is that almost any age can enjoy this journey that's easy to get to.
If you'd like to enhance your adventure further then hop right onto the nearby Appalachian Trail. The fun doesn't have to end!
