There’s nothing quite like a day on the lake. There are many lakes in Maryland demanding your attention, but none quite like Deep Creek Lake. It’s the largest lake in Maryland, with sprawling scenery galore, and tons to do. Read on, and plan a vacation to this wonderful, watery destination in the Old Line State.
Did you know that all of Maryland's lakes are man-made? That doesn't make them any less impressive. The state's largest lake is Deep Creek Lake and it's located in the western region.
Deep Creek Lake covers a whopping 3,900 acres and boasts 69 miles of shoreline. That's a lot of area to explore!
And there's nothing better than exploring this watery wonder by boat.
Don't own a boat? Not to worry -- there are businesses in the area that offer boat rentals.
From ski boats to pontoons, there are plenty of options, whether you're spending the day with a group or just yourself. Consider checking out Lake Life Boat Rentals, which offers a two-story pontoon with a water slide. Looks like fun!
You can also enjoy the lake by kayak or canoe, or by dipping your toes in from one of the sandy areas.
The lake is also perfect for fishing. You just may catch large mouth bass, rainbow trout, walleye, yellow perch, and more.
Although most people think enjoy lake life during warmer months, don't forget to visit during autumn (or even winter) as well. The surrounding foliage is absolutely dreamy.
Other activities in the area include hiking, tubing, camping, and don't forget to visit Wisp Ski Resort as well. This Maryland gem is a favorite for a reason... well, many reasons.
While in the area, be sure to also stop by Swallow Falls State Park . It has a waterfall stairway!
