October is finally here, which means spooky stuff galore! If you’re a fan of being scared, then check out these 10 places around the Old Line State. From abandoned sites to spooky cemeteries, these places are perfect for exploring during the most hauning season of all.
1. Spend the night at Maryland's most haunted campground.
Point Lookout State Park used to be a prisoner of war camp decades ago. Today, visitors claim to spot apparitions, discover unexplained bootprints outside of their tents, and hear the faint sounds of moaning.

2. Have a drink at Maryland's oldest and most haunted bar...
Not only is this historic Baltimore saloon centuries old, but it's also rumored to be the last place that Edgar Allan Poe was seen alive. Haunted happenings are said to occur here, including witnesses claiming to have seen Poe's apparition walking towards and bar and ghostly orbs floating throughout the establishment.

3. Or chow down at the most haunted restaurant in the state.
Union Hotel Restaurant is unique in many ways. In fact, the wait staff pays tribute to the restaurant's history by wearing old-fashioned colonial clothing. What's even more interesting (and creepy) is that the antiques here have been known to move on their own, broken clocks miraculously chime, and full-body apparitions appear out of nowhere.

4. Explore Maryland's most eerily beautiful cemetery.
Green Mount Cemetery is located in Baltimore and it appears to be straight out of a Tim Burton film. The towering statues and memorials are intricately detailed, making for a neat photo op. Many local celebrities and historical figures are buried here, including the infamous John Wilkes Booth.

5. Explore the abandoned ruins known as "Hell House."
Located off of Illchester Road in Ellicott City, this abandoned spot was once a seminary for young men training to be priests, known as St. Mary's College. It has since been demolished but a few ruins still remain, including the pictured altar. Some claim to feel cold spots throughout the property and there's a rumor that animal sacrifices have been performed upon the alter, conjuring an evil presence to loom over the area.

6. Brave the darkness at Paw Paw Tunnel.
Bring a flashlight and head into Paw Paw Tunnel, located in Oldtown along the C&O Canal towpath. The tunnel is 3,118-feet in length, and many feel that they are not alone when exploring this old structure. You may even hear disembodied whispers along your journey, so beware.

7. Sleep with ghosts at this historic Airbnb.
This Gothic-style mansion is known as Lilburn Mansion, and it's said to be haunted by the original family who lived here. Some claim to smell the scent of cigar smoke in the air and the apparitions of a father and daughter have also been sighted. Would you dare visit?

Many people have heard of Ellicott City, but did you know that its historic area is filled with paranormal activity? Several sites are said to be haunted and you can even go on a ghost tour if you're feeling brave.

9. Walk amongst the dead at Bloody Lane.
Many know Antietam Battlefield as being the place of the bloodiest one-day battle in American history. Thousands of men died along this sunken road, followed by even more bodies being moved here until a proper burial could occur. Today, you can walk along this spot and you may even spot a ghostly soldier or smell the scent of gunpowder in the air.

10. Try out Maryland's Spook Hill for yourself.
Spook Hill is located in the town of Burkittsville. If you park at the bottom of this infamous gravity hill and put your car in neutral, the vehicle will then mysteriously move backwards, as if it's being pushed up the hill. Some say this is due to an optical illusion but the more fun rumor is that it's the ghosts of Civil War soldiers pushing the car.
