We love a good road trip and we’ve featured plenty on this site in the past. Some are so long, you’d need an entire weekend to visit each and every stop. However, if it’s a short and sweet road trip you’re seeking, consider the following trip. This route features both a cave AND a waterfall, and the best part is that the distance between these two natural wonders is only a half-hour. First, let's learn about Crystal Grottoes Caverns. This natural cave is located in Boonsboro and is truly a hidden gem.

Crystal Grottoes Caverns has more formations per square foot than any other cave known to man! Tours usually run from 10am-5pm daily and there's a fee of $20 per adult 12 and up, and $10 for kids 11 and under.

While on your tour, you'll marvel at thousands of formations. Bring your camera to capture the surreal sights and don't forget to bring a sweatshirt -- this place stays at a crisp 54-degrees year-round!

...and you'll arrive at Cunningham Falls! This natural wonder is Maryland's largest cascading waterfall, making for the perfect place to sit on the rocks and watch the water flow down the crevices.
