What was once a normal-looking stone house in the 1840s was later purchased by a successful entrepreneur. He decided to turn the house into a castle and modeled it after Craig Castle in Scotland. He continued to live in the grand structure until the Great Depression.

In the 1980s, it was restored and turned into a bed and breakfast.
