Bucktown General Store is located in Cambridge, Maryland. This area is known for its Underground Railroad history and people travel from over to tour parts of the past.

It's said that when in this store as a teenager, Harriet Tubman took the side of a slave rather than help the overseer recapture him.

Filled with anger, the overseer threw a two-pound weight at the slave's head. It missed, and instead, hit Harriet Tubman. The incident caused a skull fracture that gave Tubman episodes of epilepsy throughout her life.

Because of the inspiring event that happened here, many people call Bucktown General Store the place of Harriet Tubman's First Stand.

Today, you can visit the general store that's been transformed into a museum. It's set up to look like it did in the 1800s, making for a fascinating step back in time.

There are even actual items here from that era that were found in the attic. Come see the old cigar boxes and more, and soak in the history.
