Head to the Potomac area to find this stunning hiking spot. You can hike a handful of sections along Billy Goat Trail, but Section A is the one with water views (and rocky views) like this. Wear shoes with good tread and be aware that some areas of the trail are more strenuous than others.

Deep Creek Lake is Maryland's largest lake and although it's most popular during summertime, its at its most beautiful during autumn. Rent a cabin, sit back, and soak in the calming lake scenery.
Stretching 184.5-miles from Washington DC to Cumberland, Maryland, there are many areas of the C & O Canal towpath to explore. Head here to walk among history and enjoy the fall foliage all around while you're at it.
Located in the Wheaton area, Brookside Gardens is a beautiful place for exploring year-round. During fall, it looks like a painting with its copper and crimson trees, shrubs, and bushes all around. This just may be the most beautiful place for a stroll in the state of Maryland.
Now we head down south to Lusby, where you'll find Calvert Cliffs State Park. It's a 1.8 mile hike to the clay cliffs and beach, and it's so worth the journey. The top of the cliffs are covered in colors during this time of year and fewer crowds means more opportunities for finding fossils.
